Before we discuss any further, let’s talk about this thing called courtship? Courtship as we all know is the getting to know each other stage. Courtship has been defined as an informal matter between the couple in a public affair or an arrangement made together with approval from the family. During the stage of courtship, the couple will be familiar with each other, both agreed to get involved in the relationship as lovers. The next stage is the proposal, engagement and exchanging of vows as the couple gets married, which will guide them in the happy ever after ending. Traditional Courtship In most countries, traditional courtship was a custom that follows a long progression of getting to know each other with the assistance from family and friends. It is simply allowing possible future partners to have a limited date and settle if the couple will be a perfect pair. It has been a tradition in any country that the male will give gifts of any kind to the female as the initial step of winning her heart. The male is the one who will ask for the first date and pays for it. He will make moves and follow-up calls in a couple of days to ask for their next date. Traditional women believed that if a man is truly interested, he will pursue, and women felt more safe and confident with a man who invested more in the relationship. Courtship nowadays Now, the traditions of guys in courting his girl seemed to be dying together with all the traditional courtship practices. The days of servitude are gone, wherein the guy will prove his intentions are pure and decent by doing the family’s chores. The tiresome process of succeeding the woman’s heart seems no longer an obligation. Before, the guy will count years before a woman will finally ‘yes’. But now, just a stare and a wink will do, it becomes so easy and simple for both parties. Wooing now revolves through chatting and around texting. There are dating sites where in selections of girls and boys to choose from are available. They can talk in a chat room, and if they seemed to like each other while chatting, then that’s the only time they will meet. Girls now don’t involve their family in letting to know their male friends and possible suitors. While boys now are not bringing the girls in their house and meet their parents too. Future courtship Nobody can foresee what awaits us in the future, but we can at least have a glimpse of possible courtship in the future through today’s guys wooing. If the courtship now seems to vanish, then we can wrap up that it is gone, maybe five or ten years from now. In some democratic places, sexual practice is observed and there are reports of young pregnancy and younger parents. In the future, we can assume that sexual revolution might be their standard, before they finally commit themselves. If they believe that they enjoy each other company in bed, then they can be possible partners. If they think it’s not working, then goodbye, and tries someone else knew. It’s just like a gadget that trial and error of apps are used. Here, love will follow after things and discoveries with each other took place. Gone are those days of hardships in winning the girl of your dreams and only compatibility and trial marriage are what’s in. Yes, technology has something to do with it, but if you’re a parent now and an individual from the school of old thoughts, would you allow these things, or are you that someone who will stand still with the traditional courting and believe that it all depends on the kind of family they belong? |
